S/P2 Training - A Walk Through
Training Prevents Pollution and Improves Safety

By training your employees to be compliant, you create a
safer business, and you help the environment.
One person in a school or business (usually an instructor or manager) must assume the role of "Safety and Pollution Prevention (S/P2) Supervisor" if the shop is to achieve self-compliance.
This person is responsible for understanding the safety and environmental issues the school or shop faces and implementing the procedures necessary to meet the federal and state regulations. The S/P2 Supervisor should be the first person through the S/P2 Training, and should make sure everyone else goes through as well.
Computers, Phone Lines, Browsers

All of the S/P2 training modules reside online. To send and receive information across the Internet smoothly, you must have these components:
- A computer with an Internet connection - High speed internet (DSL, Cable, or ISDN) is desirable, but a typical 56k modem should work.
- A "Web Browser" - Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher is recommended. Older browsers may not work. Click Here for a FREE download of the most current Internet Explorer browser.
- An e-mail account - If you do not already have one, you can easily set up a FREE email account through e-mail providers like Hotmail or Yahoo.
Upon registering for the S/P2 Training, the S/P2 Supervisor will receive a set of codes that will allow access via the Internet to the:
- Safety and/or Pollution Prevention Training
- Supervisor's Training
- Administration Site
The S/P2 Training Modules
The S/P2 Training is broken into easy to understand modules dealing with the major issues that your industry segment faces in Safety and Pollution Prevention.
The S/P2 courses are designed for all employees or students to complete. Here are some samples of what the modules look like.

After studying the modules, the individual completes the Final Exam for the course. Each person has five attempts to pass before they must call CCAR to have their account reset. Upon completion of each course's test, the individual receives a personal certificate that should be displayed or placed in that person's file.
It takes an average of 60-90 minutes to read, study, and consider each course. It then takes approximately fifteen minutes to complete the test and print the certificate.

Each individual must complete a test before
receiving their certificate.
Supervisor's Course
The Supervisor's Course provides the Safety and Pollution Prevention Supervisor and any other supervisors who deal with environmental issues with training on the paperwork and legal issues that must be understood. The Supervisor's Course also covers how to use the "Administration Site" which allows access for training and testing to the company's employees.

Here is one of the modules from
the Supervisor's Course.
Included in the Supervisor's Course are:
- A customizable Hazardous Waste Management plan (P2)
- An environmental self-audit checklist (P2)
- A safety self-audit checklist (Safety)
- Other helpful downloads and links
The Administration Site
The Administration Site allows the S/P2 Supervisor to give other individuals in the organization access to the training modules and track the test results of those people completing the courses.

Your In-House S/P2 Training Program
Each program is designed to be used at one facility. There is no limit on how many employees you can train at that facility, so by having everyone trained, you implement a company wide commitment to being safe and being environmentally compliant.
